About CFAC
In 1996, a group of community volunteers and organizations began working on a plan to revitalize the rural town of Chesnee, South Carolina. Chesnee is a beautiful small town located 10 miles from both Interstates 26 and 85, and 15 miles from NC Highway 74. Intersecting the heart of downtown Chesnee are major arteries of commerce, the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway 11 and Highway 221. Chesnee is home to a wonderful hardware store, family-friendly restaurants, scenic parks, and friendly people.
On November 2, 2000, the Carolina Foothills Artisan Center opened to rave reviews. Our facility houses a 2,000 square foot gallery space for exhibiting new works by emerging and established artists and craftspeople of all disciplines. To date, the Artisan Center has attracted people from over 34 states and 10 foreign countries. We have been featured in Southern Living Magazine, Spartanburg Magazine, and many other local newspapers and magazines. We are proud to showcase quality local artists and support our community.
Carolina Foothills Artisan Center offers art classes and events throughout the year. We strive to offer fun and affordable art classes to help you meet our artists and have a hands-on art experience.
Downtown Chesnee is approximately three miles from the Cowpens National Battlefield, which draws more than 125,000 visitors each year. Visiting the Cowpens Battlefield and the Artisan Center are great ways to start off your trip to Chesnee and Upstate, South Carolina.
